FEES

VSSC has one of the most cost-effective and accessible speed skating programs in Southern British Columbia. We are committed to keep the barriers to participate as low as possible.

Key info about fees

The fees below are for the 2024/2025 season. Please note:

  • All prices include VSSC costs plus mandatory membership fees for Speed Skating Canada (SSC) and Speed Skating BC (SSBC)—the SSC & SSBC membership fees are paid only once per season.
  • Skate rentals are included in your membership fee to promote accessibility to the sport. Speed skating boots and blades are unique to the sport, expensive and hard to find for purchase. If you already have speed skates, please note this in your registration and you will be refunded the skate rental fee.
  • Each transaction incurs a fee of 4.9%+$0.30.
  • Registration prices are subject to change without notice.

When registering, eligible low-income families can access application information for  Canadian Tire Jumpstart and KidSport BC application information to subsidize costs.

Refund Policy

  • Prior to season start: 100% refund of VSSC club fee, less $25 admin fee and transaction fees. You are responsible for obtaining refunds from SSBC and SSC for their fees.
  • After season start: no refunds.

One Month Trial

TOTAL COST
COST BREAKDOWN
VSSCSSCSSBC

$213

$185$10$18

Our “One Month Trial” program runs monthly, starting on the first Sunday practice of the month. Any registrations after the cutoff will start the following month. During the initial practices, our coaches will evaluate skills and place the skater in the appropriate practice group. Trial members are registered for full-time skating during their month with the club (3x weekly: two on-ice sessions and one dryland session.)  See the full Practice Schedule for detailed timing info.

Upon completion of the trial period, our registrar will contact you to inquire if you/your skater would like to continue and will offer a discount code with the value of the previous paid fee. Therefore the skater does not pay extra for participating before transitioning to a more committed membership with the club.

One Month Trial skaters also benefit with a free speed skate rental for the duration of their one-month trial period. The cost includes membership fees for Speed Skating Canada and Speed Skating BC.
