June Lum, our Liaison Officer with Special Olympics of BC (SOBC), and a parent volunteer, has received one of five 2020 Community Sport Champion awards, in recognition of her tireless support in making the sport of Speed Skating accessible to Special Olympians. The award also comes with a $5000 grant in support of our Club.
Since joining the Vancouver Speed Skating Club in 2014, June has been instrumental in engaging many SOBC athletes to participate in speed skating. In addition her enthusiasm in promoting the sport within the SOBC community, she uses her ever-positive and infectious can-do attitude to smooth-out any administrative wrinkles in a timely and accurate manner.
